These Ampeg full revalve kits are put together to provide a sonic upgrade to your Ampeg. I own and have played over the past 30 years Ampeg SVT, Original V4B and for recording used the B15-N portaflex. These amps are still the kings of bass amplifier in my opinion and these kits use the best of New Old Stock valves and modern day production items to give you the best sound out of these lengendary bass amps.
The Ampeg SVT Classic reissue head fitted with our Retro classic full revalve kit is designed to give your SVT Classic reissue head the sound of the original SVT. The ECC83 Retro has a clean sound but with more emphasis on the midrange. This set will suit the player who wants to get more of a vintage valve sound with enhanced midrange warmth. The Harma ECC83 Retros main feature is its smooth linear midrange and extended low frequency response so you get smooth warm mids with tight fat punchy lows.
The valves when used in conjunction with the SVT Classic reissue pre amp circuit can be used to get the full range of vintage ampeg sounds right through to a modern clean sound all with that big warm and growling bass sound.
The Harma ECC82 Retro has a very clear bass response, which is both tight and musical. The sound is well balanced and good even detail across the audio spectrum with a clear and smooth treble. The sound and build quality is not equalled by any modern day valve. That is why it is used in this kit
In the output stage we selected and match a sextet of JJ 6550.
The JJ 6550 provides very lively punchy performance with a silky smooth midrange.
The classic ampeg growl was not as pronounced as with the GE, Svetlana or The Harma 6550. The low end bass response is very tight with plenty of depth and detail.
The JJ 6550 is superbly balanced with the mids sitting in the correct position and providing plenty of clear top end detail without being harsh.
This valve kit will suit the bass player who wants a classic ampeg rock sound with plenty of tonal flexibility.
The kit consists of 11 valves
3 Specially selected Harma ECC83 Retro
2 Specially selected Harma ECC82 Retro
6 Specially selected JJ 6550 in a matched sextet
Please note that this is for the valves only
