Many of these valve designs are new designs based on old classic items.
The 6CA7/EL34 Electro Harmonix is a remake of the classic American Sylvania 6CA7 design. The valve offers the EL34 user a slightly different sound when compared to a regular EL34 type.This valve has a Fat bottle and is a excellent audio valve. The 6CA7 valve produces a very big sound stage which is more open than the tight punchy sound associated with the regular EL34.
The 6CA7 also has a super clear treble response and will give slightly more headroom than the standard EL34. The best way to describe the sound of this valve is a cross between an EL34 and 6L6GC which makes it an ideal choice for players who need more options with their sound or want more clarity at higher volume settings.
The valve has more clean headroom than a standard EL34 with later break up characteristics. These characteristics make the Electro Harmonix 6CA7 an ideal choice for Metal players, Grunge or Hardcore players who wish to get more clarity and less mid in their sound
The other main feature of this valve is that it provides a very solid bottom end response. This makes it a good choice for bassists who wish to upgrade their EL34 equipped bass amps.
This valves is also a favourite with audio users this valve provides a nice openness and clarity. It provides a warm musical bass and has proved to be an excellent upgrade to EL34 amplifiers such as the Prima Luna range of amplifiers.
