Watford Valves has cryogenically treated some of the more popular and best sounding JJ electronic formally known as Tesla valves. This process makes a permanent change and the benefits do not deteriorate over time or upon return to operating temperature, it changes the whole way the vacuum tube performs. The biggest benefits I have found have been a dramatic improvement in dynamic range. Bass response has been clearer with reduction in microphonics. The soundstage is bigger with more detail with a big reduction in the noise floor. The really most starling fact has been how the valve operates under saturated and overdriven conditions in guitar amplifiers. The distortion is smoother with less hardness and is musically pleasing to the ear.
Special Cryo Treated JJ 5U4GBThe JJ 5U4GB rectifier is used in many audio and guitar amplifier circuits and can be used to replace 5U4G & 5U4GB. In guitar amplifiers this valve is mainly used in American designs such as Fender and Mesa Boogie.
The Cryo version of this valve was normally only available in our Cryo full upgrade kits. Due to customer requests we have now made this item available for purchase outside the full upgrade kits.
The JJ 5U4GB is an economically priced valve that greatly outperforms the Chinese 5U4G and 5U4GB that seems to be used in many far eastern made amplifiers.
5Z3P & 5Z3PA is a Chinese valve with an octal bass. The we have found the straight sided 5U4GB to be superior. So make sure your items has an octal bass if you are considering this item.
