Brimar was part of STC group and founded in 1933 to manufacture American pattern valves for the British market. Valves were produced in the UK in various locations such as Foots Cray. In 1960 Thorn Electrical Industries acquired the Brimar cathode ray tubes and valve business from STC and in 1961 Brimar became part of the joint venture between Thorn and AEI to manufacture and sell valves and cathode ray tubes. Brimar valves were produced and sourced from various factories across the world in later years.
Original Brimar EZ81 Rectifier made to military CV5072 specification. This is a very high quality rectifier valve with a long life expectancy. The valve is dual marked Brimar EZ81/5072 Foreign and comes in the original Government box with CV markings.

The valve features a strong internal supported anode plates with shark fin as they are sometimes called top and bottom mica with round halo getter.

The Brimar valve competed with Mullard for the Nato contracts so this valves was tested and selected by Brimar with very tight quality control on electrical characteristics.

The valve provides better rectification than money modern made EZ81. This is therefore is an excellent choice for use in high end audio or in the demanding environments encountered in guitar amplifiers such as Marshall Handwired amplifiers and vintage Vox amplifiers
