Sylvania Electric Products Inc. based in Emporium, Pa was an American manufacturer electrical equipment and vacuum tubes In 1942 the company changed its name to Sylvania Electric Products Inc. In the early 1980s was Sylvania sold to Philips and the Philips ECG valves were produced in the Emporium plant until it closed
Sylvania 6SL7WGT is a special quality version made for the American military and date from the 1958. The valve has all the sought after features such as the small inverted welded black plates. This makes this valve very low in Microphonics. It has the top Mounted Square Getter. The valve also has the special low loss micanol heat resistant base.
Soundwise this 1958 Sylvania 6SL7WGT is amongst the best sound 6SL7 types for audio. The bass response is very tight and well extended. Midrange was detailed and silky smooth with excellent harmonic content .The treble was also very smooth with no high end spikes. The overall clear and accurate musical note reproduction with a warm transparent midband make this valve a super audio performer.
