These upgrade kits are designed so you get the best sonic performance out of these remarkable amplifiers.

This upgrade kit is designed to give you a noticeable upgrade from the stock valves. Many customers have agreed with my own findings that by fitting a set of selected JJ valves throughout gives a worthwhile sonic upgrade over the stock valves at a sensible price.

By using the JJ signal valves in the preamp section gives instant improvements when compared to the stock Chinese PL items. A substantial reduction in hiss and sibilance on certain notes and they produce a solid bass response with a warm and clear soundstage.

The JJ KT88 has always been sonically close to the Gold Lion KT88. This is why I have always said that the KT88 Gold Lion is arguably the best KT88 currently made, importantly both The JJ and Gold Lion are a major upgrade over the stock Chinese KT88

What the JJ KT88 provides is a warm detailed sound with lots of air and separation around the notes. The midrange is both clear and concise and is very natural and musical. They are more laid back and less forward in midrange department than the Gold Lions. This feature of the JJ KT88 is what some customers prefer as the amplifier has a more traditional valve sound. The bass response is excellent but is not as deep as the Gold Lions, It maintains a tight control over complex music passages giving a very balanced and detailed music sound.

The Primaluna performance was clearer with more speed and air and better note separation when compared to the stock valves. They offer a sensible and cost effective upgrade and a traditional valve sound to one of the best audio amplifiers on the market.
