Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items.
Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
Our Tung Sol 6L6GC offers a real upgrade over the standard valves and offers a better balanced tone with a clearer top end. This Tung Sol 6L6GC STR provides a real thick tone with more bass extension than the stock 6L6GC.
The valve also has a cleaner treble response under saturation than the stock TAD valve and was more open and smooth particularly on chords. This is a great all round 6L6GC if you want a tight and punchy sound.
The valve is very tight in the bass end and does not sound flabby even under heavy power chords. When driven into distortion the valve is full and fat sounding and has a no harshness in top end. This is ideal for many styles of music as it has a nice crunchy bite when pushed.
