This Rooster Mk 1 valve Pre amp & EQ full Upgrade kit is for the original TC Rooster using Mullard ECC81, GE 5725W and the Telefunken PCF80 valves. It consists of a set of 6 selected valves and this set which includes the Original German made Telefunken PCF80 was considered the best combination of valves for this unit. According to our studio clients feedback this is the best output valve for this unit and the most requested valve type for us to find and now finally we have found a small stock of this rare item.
In the input stage we use a matched pair of selected Mullard ECC81 CV4024 which is a high quality Military made double triode for the classic warm vintage sound
The difference is in the distortion or enhancer valve and here we use a special quality General Electric military 5725W 6AS6W for its unique distortion characteristics. The GE item is what many professional customers have told us is the best valve sounding valve for this unit. Ther GE has a tight punchy and aggressive distorted character that most engineers love
So then to the Telefunken PCF80 which is considered the best of its type. Why is it so good, the reason is that it takes nothing away form the distorted sound. It is superbly clear and has the right balance of frequencies. It simple sound fuller than any other PCF80 and allows the unit to sing.
It has taken us many years to find these Telefunken PCF80 and each one is selected and tested by me before purchase. So you will get a handpick matched pair of special quality Telefunken PCF80 for the output stage
