Way Huge was launched 1992 by founder Jeorge Tripps and made some legendary pedals.In late 1999 the company closed its doors when Tripps went to work for Line 6. In 2008 Tripps and the company moved to Dunlop Manufacturing and resurrected the Way Huge line.
The original Green Rhino became a real pedal classic and was in inspired by the Ibanez Tube Screamer. The tone shaping control is what really set it apart which allowed you to cut or boost the low end by a hefty 12dB. The Smalls Green Rhino Overdrive MK5 replicates this famous unit and has a number of improvements in a friendly pedal board size.The Way Huge Green Rhino Overdrive Mk5 is latest version of this iconic pedal.
The Volume, Tone, and Drive controls cover the basic functions, while the Freq and Curve controls offer finer adjustment of your sound. The Frequency offers a boost or cut at either 100Hz or 500Hz the choice is yours between the two and is accessible via an internal switch. The Curve knob allows players by roll off the high end in the upper midrange.
What I really like about the MK5 Rhino is that annoyingly harsh fuzzy overtone this some other pedals display is not present at all.
The pedal sounds sweet and clear at all the settings. When you add more gain the pedals sound becomes more compressed and sounds fatter. It also never sounds muddy or ill defined you simply get all of the tone. This is the standout feature of this pedal and when you add in the flexibility of Frequency control adjustment at 100 Hz and 500 Hz then it is easy to see why the Way Huge Green Rhino Overdrive Mk5 is a clear winner and has a unique place in the tubescreamer style pedal market
