Laney make some very fine sounding amplifiers.The stock speaker in most of the early amplifiers was their own H/H invader. This speaker range, to put it politely never enhanced the amplifiers sound quality. We have a included the most popular upgrades of valves and speakers that we have made to Laneys over the past 10 years.
Special Offer 20% DiscountThe Laney is a really good sounding small British combo and this valve and speaker set provides that clean chimey vintage greenback sound with a bright punchy top end .The set provides all the classic rock sound and makes an exceptional sounding blues rock amplifier with that classic AC/DC style crunch.
The Harma STR ECC83 is used as it has the most neutral and clear vintage tone of all the current production ECC83/12AX7 types. The Harma ECC83 STR construction has a number of advantages over regular ECC83, such as reduced microphonics and better isolation from vibration. This is particularly useful in combo applications. The valve is very well balanced with nice even bass which has plenty of depth. The mid-range response is very transparent with a clear sparkling top end which perfectly complements the Laney.
The Harma EL84/E84L is chosen as it has the best clean sound out of any modern EL84.In clean mode the valve has a well-balanced sound with a deep solid bass. The valve breaks up later than many others and in overdriven conditions results in a clearly defined creamy distortion.
This is the special burst tested version of the E84L that is tested on the rig built for Brian May for the ultimate reliability.
The Harma G12 Blue Ruby 50M 12 inch 50 watt guitar speaker is the ideal choice for the Blues/Rock Guitar player. It combines that classic late 60's classic Marshall Stack sound that ignited the British blues boom with increased high end attack and definition for the modern guitarist.
The result is a speaker that will make your chords sound tighter with a more responsive fast attack. Your solos will have added midrange warmth with a smooth crunchy texture. They also supply more upper mids and more clear top end chime than many vintage replica or indeed original pre Rola Celestion models that we have tried. Two notable users of the Blue Ruby are Dan Hawkins of the Darkness and Tim mills of Bare Knuckle Pickups
