Siemens are a huge German owned manufacturer that has made and developed some of the worlds best vacuum tubes.
Siemens first patented the x-ray tube On March 24, 1896.
Siemens have made some of the best sounding audio valves that have become highly sought after for their sound and build quality.
The ECC81/6201 SIEMENS is a special quality avionics valve that was designed to work in the most difficult operating conditions. This valve was specially designed for long life and be shock resistant up to 500g and with a high temperature rating as it was specified for the NATO, American air force and other military forces across the world.
These valves were made with the highest grade materials and with no compromise on selection or quality control they have a number of unique features such as high grade filament isolation so even after long periods of use the filament will not degrade. Immune to shock and vibration and were also rated for long life. To put it simply, No modern day ECC81 is made to this specification.
Sound wise the Siemens 6201 is as sought after in audio circles as the Telefunken.
The valve is really well balanced with excellent separation between the bass and midrange. The other really sound out feature is that the Siemens 6201 does not colour the music in anyway being really neutral and natural, ie a double bass sound like a double bass. The final major feature in audio circuits and what this valve excels at is that you hear the music just as it was recorded.
