These are specially selected full revalve kits for Mesa Boogie owners. The sets consist of specially position selected pre amp valves that have been selected for each position in your Mesa. We have 2 pre amp kits, Standard gain, to give a warm and fat overdrive and Our Classic kit provides boogie owners with a valve close in tone to the vintage Mullard ECC83.
In terms of 6L6GC we have selected sets available that will work with the boogies fixed bias arrangement. Certain 6L6GC will be better for certain kinds of music and these we have indicated in our product description.
Special Offer 10% DiscountThis full revalve kit is designed to give you the classic warm driving rock sound with plenty of rich sustain that is as close to the old Mullard tone as possible. This combination removes the High end fizz and the rather brittle distortion characteristic which is the most common complaint levelled at this amplifier and brings the amplifiers sound back to life.
The Harma ECC83 Retro outstanding feature is a smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response. It has a very open and clear top end chime giving that gives the amplifier that rich sustaining tone. So you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows and that classic Mullard style bottom end.
The EL84 Retro has a deep well defined tight bass that produces the classic slam of the Mullard in the bottom end with the bass being deeper and better defined.
The midrange performance has been tweaked to provide warm clear detail at low volumes with clear articulation and smooth even distortion when the amplifier is cranked.
You will get improvements in such as a crystal clear top end with more extension and clarity when used clean. When using the overdriven settings the valves combined characteristics provide a warm sustaining sound with plenty of upper harmonics with excellent projection on solos.
