85A2 CV4048 special military grade voltage stabiliser made by English Electric Valve in the UK.

This special quality voltage stabiliser and was designed to operate in the high shock and vibration applications. These valves were made for long life and were aimed at industrial and military applications.

This valve would have been used to directly stabilise the voltage for an oscillator or be employed as a voltage reference for a stabilised supply. So these valves are extremely stable

These are great in Audio applications such as a voltage regulator in the Croft range of amplifiers
