Raytheon Technologies Corporation is an American multinational aerospace and defence Electronics group. They produced valves in the USA and distributed valves that they sourced around the globe under the Raytheon brand name. 1961 They took over British electronics company AC Cossor and merged it with Raytheon
Raytheon 5879 is a very low noise pentode that is a specially designed pentode to provide low microphonics; low noise and low hum levels in critical audio amplifier applications.

5897 Raytheon was made in the U.S.A and the valve has similar characteristic to the EF86.

Due to these valves excellent sonic qualities they were used extensively by Gibson in many of their amplifiers such as GA-45T Maestro. It was also used in the film industry by Bell & Howell. This valve has started to find its way in new modern audio and guitar amplifiers such as Divided by Thirteen.
