Since Peter Walker founded Quad in 1936, all Quad products have displayed originality in design and outstanding audio excellence. A world leader in audio amplifier and electrostatic speaker design, Quad has been recognised by awards from around the world including the Queen's Award for Technological Achievement in 1978 the only one ever presented to an audio hi-fi equipment manufacturer.
It is hard to believe that the legendary Quad 11 was discontinued in 1970, yet my own Quad 11 still outperforms many high end amplifies some 45 years on.
Our kits use the best current production and NOS valves to help you get the best sound out of these legendary amplifiers.
Original Quad 22 pre amplifier unit that was introduced in 1953 and remained in production until 1971. Absolute Classic and is still used by many audiophiles today.This Upgrade kit uses Siemens Ru EF86 which has been very popular over the years with Quad owners for use in this pre amp and also in the Quad 11 Power amp as it offers a cheaper alternative to the Mullard EF86 and excellent performance. Our customers tell us that this valve is better than the modern day EF86.
The Harma ECC83 Retro is a true sounding recreation of the famous Mullard ECC83.
It produces a harmonically rich and detailed sound with clear 3D midrange warmth with a very open and clear top end. This is the classic combination for this preamp and our most popular item for this pre amplifier.
