Many of their designs are based on classic American amplifiers and British amplifiers of the past. In recent years VHT have made a range of hardwired amplifiers in China which are easy to modify as they have used traditional turret board. The Harma ECC83 STR Philips 6V6GT Full upgrade kit is designed to give a great rock sound with plenty of harmonic warmth and crunch. This combination provides a crystal clear top end with more extension and clarity when used clean. When pushing the amplifier into overdrive The valves provide a warm clear sound with excellent sustain with plenty of upper harmonics.The Harma ECC83 STR is used to maintain the amps sparkling clean sounds. The mid-range is clean and transparent which removes the mush from the sound when the amplifier is overdriven. The valve responds very well to pedals and crunches up with a fat well balanced tone.
The USA made Jan Philips 6V6GT simply out classes the modern 6V6GT valve without exception in both terms of sound quality and reliability. These are Full Jan Specification which means that they are long life and superbly made with the highest grade materials. This valve is the benchmark for that classic Fender style clean sound. The valve has a clear top end has chime and vibrancy that no other 6V6GT could match in our tests.
USA made Philips NOS 6V6GT produce a warm clear sound and very open sound with a smooth clear distortion. The valve has that tight midrange punch that provides excellent note clarity. Indeed, No other 6V6GT supplies that sparkling clean sound and top end chime as well as this valve. Solos and riffs are have plenty of warm harmonic sustain. Power chords have plenty of slam with enough crunch to add impact to the chords.
This is why this valve is considered the bench mark when it comes to Fender style clarity. It simply out classes the modern made 6V6GT without exception.
