DR Z amplifiers were founded in 1988 by Mike Zaite, a.k.a. Dr. Z.in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. In 1994 Zaite built several more amps for Joe Walsh to use on the 1994 Eagles World Tour this put DR Z name firmly in the public eye. Dr. Z amplifiers are beautifully made and many use a unique circuit design bases on the EF86 pentode. Our upgrade kits use the best combination of new old stock and modern day valves. These we believe will give you the best sound and performance from your amplifier. You have not compromised in your choice of amplifier, so why compromised on the choice of valves.

This full revalve kit is designed to give you the best clean sound with the maximum clarity when playing clean but adds more bite and punch when you overdrive the amplifier.

The heart and the soul of the amplifier is the unique use of classic EF86 pentode.
With a gain thats 50% higher than the hottest 12AX7 this amp has its own distinct voice.

The EF86 Mazda excels in guitar amplifier applications due to the design of the Russian Mazda EF86 having a lower output impedance; the result is 10 % more gain when compared to other modern and new old stock EF86s.

The Harma ECC83 -STR is used as it has a very well balanced tone with nice even bass. The mid-range is clean and transparent which has plenty of high end chime.

The Harma E84L is a high quality special application military valve and is electrically rated at having a plate dissipation of 14 watts, which is higher than any other EL84, all others being rated at 12 watts.

The valve has a mechanical rugged construction and thick glass as they were originally designed to be immune to shock and vibration as they were designed for military applications

These features reduce microphonics and rattle in all guitar combos. The valves also use high grade filament isolation so even after long periods of use the filament will not degrade. The valve also has a coated anode which makes it stable and able to stand high voltages. This is one tough customer, indeed no previous or current EL84 are made to this specification.

The valve produces the maximum clean headroom out of any current EL84 providing the best clean sound by far in guitar amp applications. The bass is really deep and solid with excellent balance and no hardness.

This is the special burst tested version of the E84L that is tested on the rig built for Brian May for the ultimate reliability.

This combination of a hotter input stage and a clean output stage gives you the perfect
balance of clean and crunch sounds. In guitar applications it displays a clear rich warm overdrive sound when distorted which is not matched by any current made EL84.

The Harma GZ34 Retro is based on the Mullard GZ34 and is used as it provides the correct rectification with no reduction in B+ voltage unlike many of the modern GZ34 on the market today.

The set consists of 7 valves
