It is an effective upgrade over the stock speaker and the Celestion A type also removes the fizz and harsh sizzle that is found in the Jensen C12N.This Celestion A Type upgrade kit is one of the best upgrade you can make if you want a more authentic Fender sound.
The Harma ECC83 Retro provides harmonically rich and detailed midrange warmth. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The Harma 6L6GC Retro is based on the famous Sylvania STR 387 6L6GC and it shares many of the same sound features. In clean mode the valve breaks up later than the stock 6L6GC and gives an improved clean sound. The design also has an extended treble response so can provide more clean sparkle.
In the overdrive stakes the Harma 6L6GC-Retro completely captures that classic rock sound. It provides a nice balanced overdrive sound which allows clear sustained notes to cut through the mix. It was punchy and well balanced on chords and open voicing. They also cleaned up very easily when using the guitars volume control and could provide all the sounds from sparkling to a nice crunchy distortion. Tight well defined bass with plenty of slam completed the picture. This is one excellent modern 6L6GC type for clean through to American rock and blues.
The Celestion A type speaker delivers a full sound with a wonderfully open treble. The midrange response has more body and is nicely rounded with plenty of depth. The A Type has a smooth articulation and will suit county picking from players who want more bite right through to Rock players who want the crunch without the fizz. This is without doubt one of the best sounding 12 inch speakers on the market and is ideal speaker to upgrade any American sounding amp
