Sylvania Electric Products Inc. based in Emporium, Pa was an American manufacturer electrical equipment and vacuum tubes In 1942 the company changed its name to Sylvania Electric Products Inc. In the early 1980s was Sylvania sold to Philips and the Philips ECG valves were produced in the Emporium plant until it closed
These are the Original USA made Sylvania 5840 which is a special quality version of the EF732 pentode. These high quality sub miniature pentode are well known for their extremely low noise and low microphonics and are used in valve microphones.

The 5840 valve is currently used in Telefunkens current production models of the AK47mkII and ELA M 260

5840 is electrically similar to the AC701K which was used in such microphones as the Neumann M49. They have very low noise and produce a very refined sound, hence why many manufactures are now using this valve.

5840 replacement tube for the Telefunken AK-47mkII and ELA M 260 microphones.

The Sylvania over the years has been our most popular item of American made 5840 as customer feel this valve has more treble detail
some have 5840 in yellow print and some have green print.
