Thermionic Culture Ltd. was formed in England in 1998 by Vic Keary and Jon Bailes to manufacture state of the art valve studio equipment.
Vic Keary credentials are the best in the business as not only has he mixed, produced and engineered but also he designed the equipment that was used on countless hit records in his days at Lansdowne, Chalk Farm Studios & Chiswick Reach. Jon Bailes is an expert designer in the electronic manufacturing industry.
Our valve revalve kits use only the highest grade new old stock valves and the best of the modern made valves. We have put these kits together to allow easy ordering for our studio customers.
The Rooster MK 2 valve Pre amp & EQ full revalve kit consists of a set of 6 selected valves to provide the best sonic and audio performance from this legendary piece of studio equipment. Our valve revalve kits use only the highest grade new old stock valves and the best of the modern made valves. We have put these kits together to allow easy ordering for our studio customers.
This is the set to use if you require more crunch and punch from the distortion settings.
In the input stage we use a matched pair of selected Harma ECC83 STR
The Siemens 5654W has been very popular over the years for this unit with our customers.
These are the sought after black plate version with round O getter which many customers have told us that they feel is the best version due to the way it distorts.
The Siemens 5654W sound is transparent and very dynamic with a clear deep bass response.When the valve distorts it provides a more aggressive and very upfront sound especially when used in the pentode setting as they add a unique crunchy valve driven harmonic distortion.
A special quality Philips PCF80 is used in the output stage in a matched pair
