Brimar was part of STC group and founded in 1933 to manufacture American pattern valves for the British market. Valves were produced in the UK in various locations such as Foots Cray.
In 1960 Thorn Electrical Industries acquired the Brimar cathode ray tubes and valve business from STC and in 1961 Brimar became part of the joint venture between Thorn and AEI to manufacture and sell valves and cathode ray tubes. Brimar valves were produced and sourced from various factories across the world in later years.
The CV131 is a special quality EF92. This valve is a miniature variable Mu pentode designed to operate at HF.The are original British made Brimar items that are our most popular valve in the Little dot range of amplifiers and in valve microphones.
Brimar CV131 provides a warmer and fuller sound when compared to the Mullard 8161.
These are the early grey anode plate item that have a really clear punchy bass response. It also has great treble detail and has great note separation. This is a really joy to listen to and works well on all categories of music. It Is certainly many customers favourite EF92
