These Ampeg pre amp revalve kits are put together to provide a sonic upgrade over the stock valves in your Ampeg. I own and have played over the past 30 years Ampeg SVT, Original V4B and for recording the B15-N portaflex. I have also used many of the Ampeg valve pre amps.So these kits use the best of New Old Stock valves and modern day production items to give you the best sound out of these lengendary bass amps.
This set for Ampeg B18N and uses a substitution ECF82 6U8A for the 7199 which is not pin compatible and will require a technician to carry out the alterations.
The B18N is the big brother to Ampegs famous B15 family porta flex bass amplifier. These deliver 50 Watts through an 18" speaker. This amplifier has a number of variants so please check your amplifier and model for the exact valve line up.

The simple truth is that these amplifiers do not sound the same with modern made valves.

This set is a no compromise set put together to give you the best sound.

Many Ampeg owners state that the RCA 6SL7WGT is the best sounding valve for use in the B series range. This valve was made for the American military and so is a rugged American 6SL7. The valve differs from the standard 6SL7GT as they have extra support rods and thick mica spacers and the valve anode plates are angled so are not facing each other.

These valves simply sound wonderful and they provide the fattest and most rounded bass sound that I have found from the two B15 models that I personally own. Sonically they have outperformed all modern made 6SL7 types that I have tried. So I fully agree with all those posts from Bass players who say the RCA 6SL7WGT are the ones.

The B18N also used a 7199 valve, sadly production of this valve has ceased over 30 years ago. So due to the rarity of this valve we only have a handful of this B18N revalve kit we can offer.
The 7199 can be substituted for an ECF82 6U8A valve after a technician undertakes some wiring changes to the valve socket. This can only be performed on amplifiers that are point to point wired.

1-Remove pin 2 connections and move this to pin 6.
2- Remove pin 6 connections and move this to pin 7
3- Remove pin 7 connections and move this to pin 2
4- Label chassis that the amplifier has been modified as the 7199 will no longer work

The set consist of

2 selected 6SL7WGT RCA
1 selected ECF82 6U8A Philips USA
