Black Star amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch. By upgrading the valves to selected cryogenically treated valve sets customers have noticed the additional benefits such as better clarity, larger and improved sound stage with increased definition under distortion.
Here we have listed our most common upgrades to the Black Star range.
This Classic Groove Tube EL34 Mullard Cryo upgrade kit covers the Black Star HT Studio 20 head & combo and is designed to provide a vintage sound with a touch responsiveness ideally suited for Rock and Blues. This combination designed to give you the classic British Rock & Blues sound with a nice crunchiness under overdriven conditions that is a big improvement over standard valves.The Cryo treatment gives a permanent change to the valves performance. The additional benefits such as better clarity, larger and improved sound stage with increased definition under distortion are what the treated valves provide and ensure a lasting improvement to you sound over the untreated items.
The Harma ECC83 Retro Cryo provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth. This valve has a traditional British voiced sound that has a huge singing sustaining tone when overdriven. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The Groove Tube EL34 Mullard Cryo re issue is based upon The Mullard EL34 XF2 batch code item. EL34 users in both the audio world and guitar amp world prize this valve as the very best of its type. In Guitar applications the Groove Tube EL34 Mullard has a wonderfully rounded midrange with a recessed treble. The valve has an excellent distorted sound which is rounded and smooth
This is a great blues valve as it is very touch responsive, think of Gary Moore tone on still got the blues†and that is what the Groove Tube EL34 Mullard Re issue excels at.
