The Harma ECC83 Retro Cryo provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth. This valve has a traditional British voiced sound that has a huge singing sustaining tone when overdriven. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The Harma EL34-Retro Cryo is based on the famous Mullard EL34 XF2 design and has a number of important features over standard EL34 types. The grids of the tube use a block construction this enables the valve to provide smoother output and eliminating odd order harmonics. The result is a tight bass response with a balanced sound stage and clean clear treble. Thicker glass not only adds strength but also provides lower microphonics.
The Cryo treated valve now has a rich clear treble response which has more clarity and bite at the top end. Exceptional under full saturation the treatment enhances the valves mid forwardness give a full sustaining tone when overdriven which is especially good on solos. The treble response is more aggressive. This gives the amp a punchier in your face British sound .The bass end is very tight and crunches with more weight than the standard EL34.
