Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items.
Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
The Artist series is powered by 6L6GC valves and provides the ultimate clean and classic overdriven sounds. Here we choose the best valve combinations to get the best out of these amplifiers.This Blackstar Artist 30 Classic GT 6L6GC GE Re issue upgrade kit is designed t to provide a great clean sound with a smooth treble and a crunchier and more dynamic sound when overdriven. It has the traditional American hard rock sound when pushed and that clear natural treble response in clean mode.
The Harma ECC83 Retro provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth. This valve has a traditional British voiced sound that has a huge singing sustaining tone when overdriven. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The GT 6L6GC-G.E Re issue is a remake of one of the most famous 6L6GC of all time. GT have made a faithful recreation of the General Electric later type clear top 6L6GC.
This original valve is one of the most talked about new old stock 6L6GC as they are noted for incredible dynamic range and large sound stage.
In the Black Star these valves really excel and change the sound from a thin and harsh response, which the stock valves display into a classic sounding versatile rock amp. This valve provides a warm smooth sound with a very clean and open treble.
The valve has a much thicker and fuller sound and has massive slam when you hit a power chord. The single notes are also thicker and more responsive. Whether you bought this amp for clean or the great overdriven sound, The Groove tubes bring this amp to life as the GT is a faithful reproduction of the classic American 6L6GC tone that this amp was designed for.
