Since Peter Walker founded Quad in 1936, all Quad products have displayed originality in design and outstanding audio excellence. A world leader in audio amplifier and electrostatic speaker design, Quad has been recognised by awards from around the world including the Queen's Award for Technological Achievement in 1978 the only one ever presented to an audio hi-fi equipment manufacturer.
It is hard to believe that the legendary Quad 11 was discontinued in 1970, yet my own Quad 11 still outperforms many high end amplifies some 45 years on.
Our kits use the best current production and NOS valves to help you get the best sound out of these legendary amplifiers.
The Quad II Eighty mono power amplifier upgrade kit is for a pair of monoblock amplifiers. The Quad 11 Eighty is an amplifier born out of the famous Quad 11 which was launched in 1953 and ceased production in 1970. Quad II Eighty takes Quad design, build and sound quality to a totally new level.Quad have used one of the UK most famous and best audios designers in Tim De Paravicini to take Peter Walker design the philosophy to the next level.
The Quad 11 Eighty delivers huge dynamic headroom with more control and has a faster response than any amplifier I have heard. The sound that this amplifier produces is simply stunning. I being a lifelong user of the famous Quad 11 can happy state that this is one of only a handful of amplifiers that blows the legend away.
This upgrade set uses selected valves which give a better sonic performance to match this incredible amplifier.
For the 6SL7GT we use the 6SL7 WGT Sylvania JAN CHS which is a military 6SL7GT and is one of the best sounding 6SL7GT on the market which is why we keep them just for these Quad amplifiers
In the 6SN7 position we use a selected modern Tung Sol 6SN7 GTB
The KT88s in this kit are specially selected JJ which give the amplifier more punchy and refined sound. The JJ have a more and accurate sound and offer better speed sonic clarity and superb musical presentation. They offer an instant upgrade to the stock Chinese items
The Kit consists of 14 valves and covers a pair of mono block amplifiers.
