Indeed our own Harma E84L, which is the same Russian military valve that Hughes and Kettner are now using in their 30 th anniversary Tubemeister models. This is one valve that we have recommend for the last 20 years and with our upgrade kits you can now upgrade tour Tubemeister to Anniversary specification.
This Classic upgrade kit covers the Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 5 head and combos and is designed to provide the ideal combination for those who demand a tight driving rock sound with plenty of rich sustain. It is an effective upgrade over the stock valves for those who want an authentic rock sound with more treble clarity and less fizz when compared to the stock valves.We use a combination of the best of the current production and new old stock items to achieve this.
The Harma ECC83 Retro provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth. This valve has a traditional British voiced sound that has a huge singing sustaining tone when overdriven. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The American made Philips 12BH7A is an ideal choice as an output valve in the Hughes & Kettner. The valve has a deep and tight bass with a very warm and detailed mid band. The valve also responds very well under saturation giving a full creamy overdriven sound. The top end is very vibrant and clear.
