Carr Amplifiers are made by Steve Carr and his staff in Pittsboro,North Carolina USA.
Having tried a number of these amps what I really like is the attention to detail and workmanship. The amplifiers are based on famous tried and tested circuits and they sound exactly as Carr amps describe.
Our full revalve kit aim to help you get the best out of these excellent amplifiers.
The Carr Mercury Classic EL34 Retro full revalve kit is designed to get the most out of this excellent amplifier and covers all versions including the Mini Mercury. This kit provides the ideal combination for those who demand a tight driving Blues Rock sound with plenty of rich sustain. This combination designed to give you the classic British sound with more top end bite especially when you are using the attenuation circuit.
In order to get this sound right we have used a combination of modern made and Vintage New old stock valves in the pre amplifier section. The valves are specially selected for low microphonics and gain and the kit includes a balanced valve for the phase inverter position.
The Harma ECC83 Retro is a true sounding recreation of the famous Mullard ECC83. This valve replicates the warm detail and harmonically rich midrange that made the Mullard sound so famous.
The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The Harma ECC81 STR is a German manufactured valve that has been specially chosen for its outstanding performance and sound quality.
The Harma EL34 Retro is modelled on the famous Mullard EL34 XF2 provides a similar bass and midrange sound the Svetlana Winged C EL34 in clean mode. In overdriven mode the Harma has a more forward sound in the mid and top and will break up earlier than the Svetlana. The main difference and feature of the Harma EL34 Retro is that the treble response is more aggressive. This gives the amp a punchier in your face British sound that some customers prefer and is ideal for rock players who want little more edge.
