These kits are designed to help you get the best sound out for your Peavey for your particular sound.
This kit is designed for the hard Rock and metal players as it is the ideal combination of best clean sound with a smooth and extended treble even under the most extreme settings. This combination with suit the most demanding rock/metal player as it gives you the classic American 6L6GC sound whilst getting the best out of the modern high gain voicing that the Peavey offers.The Harma ECC83 Retro pre amp valve offers more harmonic warmth with more transparency in the midrange than 12AX7 Chinese or the Electro Harmonix 12AX7 with a little less gain. The outstanding feature of the Harma ECC83 Retro is its smooth linear midrange response and clarity under overdriven conditions. So you get smooth warm singing overdrive with tight fat punchy lows. This has become our most popular pre amp valve for Peavey amplifiers.
The Svetlana 6L6GC winged C has consistently topped not only our test reports but many others across the world. This valve provides that classic big American 6L6GC sound.
In clean mode the valve is very well balanced with a big clean sound and a smooth top end response. It provides clear detail on chords and double stops which no other modern 6L6GC can match
In overdriven mode the valve provides great balance and control it does not sound fuzzy or hard. All the notes are clear and musical even with high levels of saturation. The Svetlana 6L6GC has a rich deep bass response which provides plenty of slam on chords. Guitar solo's and runs are clear and well defined and therefore this is the best valve for that modern high gain sound.
In the Peavey's higher gain setting, The Svetlana does not get mushy and over saturated which makes it ideal for more extreme metal players.
The Svetlana 6L6GC is the closest modern day valve to the sound of the old Sylvania STR 387 6L6GC sound and therefore is the best sounding upgrade for metal players.
