The Marshall AFD 100 Classic Retro full revalve kit is designed to give your Marshall a warm sustaining sound with plenty of upper harmonics. The Harma ECC83 Retro replicates the warm detail and harmonically rich midrange that made the Mullard sound so famous.
The valves outstanding feature is that when it is overdriven it provides a warm sustaining sound with plenty of upper harmonics. This combined with its smooth linear midrange response and extended low frequency response means you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows. This captures that classic vintage Marshall sound better than all the other ECC83/12AX7 that I have tried.
The Harma 6550A Retro is a meticulous recreation of the classic General Electric 6550A and has a number of special features which single this valve out from the masses of currently made 6550 types.
The valve uses special thick mica with internal bracing and spacing supports with full length anode heat wings to aid cooling capacity and provide improved heat transfer. The plate is constructed out of high temperature laminated alloy with an industrial grade glass envelope to prevent microphoney. The control grid wire is made of gold with a specially coated screen grid to improve reliability.
Harma 6550A Retro has been designed to produce the warm sonic signature with sonic punch and bass fluidness that is reminiscent of the American GE 6550A. It has been designed to have more openness and clarity in the upper frequencies with a smoother cleaner treble. The use of high grade alloys has resulted in exceptional midrange clarity and punch which the original General Electric was always renowned for.
Guitarists will also benefit from the design features of the Harma 6550A as they will appreciated the balance and fuller range response of this 6550A.In Marshalls it will deliver thick and driven deep bass response required for Zakk Wylde Black label tone, The even frequencies response will inject the crunch for the Malcolm Young Rhythm sound. Lead players find that the smoother upper frequency will benefit them in recreating Slashes harmonically rich lead sound.
The combination of the design and manufacturing features means the Harma 6550 A Retro is the valve that will deliver the sound that you will expect from your Marshall.
