The Marshall VBA 400 Classic JJ full upgrade kit is specially selected for Marshall VBA 400 bass amplifier.
The Marshall VBA 400 has a very simple yet very effective pre amp which makes available the classic late 60's early 70's Marshall super bass sound right thought to more modern voiced bass sounds.
The Harma Retro valves provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3 dimension midrange response. This valve has a traditional British voiced with the outstanding feature of its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm midrange, excellent clarity and tight fat punchy lows. This captures that classic vintage Marshall Bass sound better than all the other ECC83/12AX7 that I have tried.
The Marshall VBA 400 takes a total of 8 6550 valves in the output stage and therefore there is unfortunately no cheap shortcut when it is time for a revalve of this monster of an amp. The JJ 6550 does provide excellent performance at a lower price point.
The JJ 6550 has proved an excellent valve for all applications. In my Marshall VBA400 bass amplifier the JJ 6550 has provided me with consistent and reliable performance. The JJ 6550 has a very lively punchy sound which will recreate all the modern bass sounds and also works very well on 5 string bass due to its excellent bass clarity.
The low end bass response is very tight with plenty of depth and lots of clarity. So this valve will produce all the vintage rock bass sounds with ease. The JJ is also very well constructed with large anode plates and thick grade glass. The Marshall puts out a lot of low end and these 6550 did not show any mechanical rattles after extensive gigging, so can be fully recommended.
The set consists of 12 valves

1 Specially Gain selected Harma ECC82 Retro in V3
