Brimar was part of STC group and founded in 1933 to manufacture American pattern valves for the British market. Valves were produced in the UK in various locations such as Foots Cray. In 1960 Thorn Electrical Industries acquired the Brimar cathode ray tubes and valve business from STC and in 1961 Brimar became part of the joint venture between Thorn and AEI to manufacture and sell valves and cathode ray tubes. Brimar valves were produced and sourced from various factories across the world in later years.
Brimar 6AQ5 EL90 was supplied under CV1862 contract and this Brimar item is the rare Made in England item and was supplied to Nato forces under CV1862.

The valve benefits from a solid internal structure and has the grey RF shielding which was sprayed on inside the glass.

These new old stock Items were used as output valves in military equipment and was rated as being able to produce 4.5 Watts of audio in a single ended circuit.

This excellent sounding audio valve is also great in guitar amplifiers as well. Indeed this has a sonic quality that other 6AQ5 do not have. It produces a very well balanced sound that when pushed in guitar amplifiers give a smooth fat distortion.
