Philips Electronics Components Group was the name given to the products marketed in America after Philips bought the American valve manufacturer Sylvania in the early 1980’s. Sylvania was a major manufacturer of valves and Philips bought them to get the lucrative American Government and military contracts.
These valves are of the highest military grade which offer outstanding performance and were all made in the USA.
The American made Philips 6SL7WGT Jan was made for the American military contracts and date from the 1980s. The valve is constructed with small inverted welded black plate. The valve also features large top solid halo getter. The valve is very balanced with well-rounded bass response detailed presentation which makes it very popular in high audio amplifiers.
The small plate made these very low in microphonics and sonically outperforms modern made 6SL7.
The Philips 6SL7WGT has excellent clarity and note definition, indeed for audio its real strong point is its musical deep bass definition. It has a transparent and warm midband which is excellent on vocals and strings.
This is a rugged American 6SL7WGT valve one of the best valves for the AMPEG B-15, B-15N and B-18 bass combos. Full Jan Specification 6SL7WGT valve with Philips and comes the original government box
