Philips was founded by Frederik Philips and his son Gerard Philips in 1891 in Eindhoven in Holland. They concentrated on mass production of incandescent lamps. By the end of the 1890s Philips & Co. is one of the largest producers in the Netherlands and, with 1,000 employees, the countrys largest industrial employer. In 1928 Philips bought Mullard after a joint venture in vacuum tubes. Philips had been one of main originators with in the musical field. They invented the compact cassette and CD discs and also some of the great valve designs such as the EL34 and EL84.
Special Matched Pairs

This is a special balanced version with matched triode sections available in matched pairs. For use in in critical positions in Tube compressors and driver stages in Audio amplifiers

Philips ECC88 has same clarity and speed of the famous Mullard ECC88 & E88CC as it is really is the same valve. It also has the same midrange warmth and dynamics that has made the Mullard so famous. Which is why this valve has become so sort after. In fact Philips owned the Mullard brand so these are identical to the Mullard.

Sound wise; this valve has it all, speed & dynamics with plenty of deep musical bass definition. It has a transparent and warm midband which is excellent on vocals and strings. The Philips ECC88 is an Audio bargain as you get all the Mullard sound at super low price when compared to the E88CC and 6922. The ECC88 is a direct replacement for 6DJ8, ECC88, E88CC, 6922 and Chinese 6N11.

We offer these in matched pairs with matched triode sections for high end Audio

Theses valves have been Dynamically Drive tested under real working condition and are matched on db gain and have passed the following tests:
