Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items.
Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
This Blackstar HT Metal 100 6L6GC Svetlana Winged C upgrade kit covers the Blackstar HT Metal 100 fitted with standard 6L6GC. The kit will provide improved clarity and smoothness under high gain metal settings. Under extreme saturation it is full bodied and tight enabling your sound to cut through the most extreme mixes without the fuzz and mush.The Harma 7025 is a selected high gain valve that supplies a tight and deep bottom end sound with excellent midrange punch. The top end is clear sound and it has a nice early harmonic crunch.
This provides the right amount of top end focus and bottom end slam to satisfy the demands of the metal player.
The Harma ECC82 STR is used for its clean mid-range and its transparency which removes the mush from the sound when the amplifier is overdriven. The valve responds very well to pedals and crunches up with a fat well balanced tone.
The Svetlana 6L6GC winged C has consistently topped not only our test reports but many others across the world. In Metal settings the Svetlana 6L6GC is really at home with high levels of saturation. It keeps the sound tight and focused and does not get ragged like so many other 6L6GC. The bass response is both deep and powerful and the valve also does not compress to early therefore not sucking the dynamics out of your sound. The Svetlana also can project right through a dense mix without getting lost just like the original Sylvania STR 387 6L6GC. The Svetlana 6L6GC is the closest modern day valve to the sound of the old Sylvania STR 387 6L6GC sound and therefore is an excellent upgrade and the best sounding 6L6GC for metal.
