Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items.
Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
Blackstar HT Metal 60 7025 STR GT 6L6GC GE Re issue upgrade kit covers the Black Star HT Metal 60 combo fitted with standard 6L6GC.The kit will provide a fuller and fatter sound with that crunchy American sound that takes the harsh edge off the modern high gain sound. Enhanced treble clarity and top end punch when using high gain settings enabling you to get the best out of your Blackstar. The Harma 7025 is a selected high gain valve that supplies a tight and deep bottom end sound with excellent midrange punch. The top end is clear sound and it has a nice early harmonic crunch.
This provides the right amount of top end focus and bottom end slam to satisfy the demands of the metal player.
The Harma ECC82 STR is used for its clean mid-range and its transparency which removes the mush from the sound when the amplifier is overdriven. The valve responds very well to pedals and crunches up with a fat well balanced tone.
The GT 6L6GC G.E Re issue is a remake of one of the most famous 6L6GC of all time. GT have made a faithful recreation of the General Electric later type clear top 6L6GC.
This original valve is one of the most talked about new old stock 6L6GC as they are noted for incredible dynamic range and large sound stage.
In the Blackstar these valves really excel and change the sound from a thin and harsh response that the stock valves displays into a classic rock and metal amp. This valve provides a warm smooth sound with a very clean and open treble. The valve has a much thicker and fuller sound that has the slam when you hit a power chord. The single notes are also thicker and more responsive.
Whether you bought this amp for metal or you bought it because of the tonal variation. The Groove tubes bring this amp to life as the GT is a faithful reproduction of the classic American 6L6GC tone that this amp was designed for.
