Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items. Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
This Blackstar HT Metal 60 7025 STR Harma 5881 upgrade kit covers the Blackstar HT Metal 60 combo fitted with standard 6L6GC.

With a simple re bias of the output valves and fitting the Harma 5881 this kit will provide the classic tight punchy rock sound which is suited to harder rock and metal styles .This combination is designed to give you the classic British American rock sound that was associated with Mesa and Marshall amplifiers of the 1980's along with the more modern day voicing that the Blackstar offers.

The Harma 7025 is a selected high gain valve that supplies a tight and deep bottom end sound with excellent midrange punch. The top end is clear sound and it has a nice early harmonic crunch. This provides the right amount of top end focus and bottom end slam to satisfy the demands of the metal player.

The Harma ECC82 STR is used for its clean mid-range and its transparency which removes the mush from the sound when the amplifier is overdriven. The valve responds very well to pedals and crunches up with a fat well balanced tone.

The Harma 5881 is the button based Russian military valve that powered the Marshall and Mesa Boogie amps (STR 425) in the late eighties. The Harma 5881 has a proven track record over decades of use in Russian military applications for long life and reliability.
The 5881 valve provides a very tight and focused sound which is very punchy. The valve is also very lean in the midrange which makes it an ideal choice if you like to scoop out the mids. The 5881 is very aggressive sounding when really pushed which is great for metal riffing and chording. Solo guitar and fast runs also cut through the mix and the valve also remains tight with dropped tunings.
This is an excellent choice for hard rock, metal and fusion players in the Blackstar.

The kit consists of
2 Specially Selected Harma 7025 Dr 250
1 Specially Selected & Balanced Harma ECC82 STR
2 Specially Selected and matched Harma 5881
