The Tung-sol reissue valves are produced by the Sovtek Corporation to high standards at their reflector plant. These are recreations of some of the most popular Audio and guitar valves and they also produce some original designs under the Tung Sol name such as the KT120.
These valve are used by original equipment manufactures the work over for their sound quality and reliability.
Tung Sol EL34B is made with a higher impedance which gives a little more gain and touch responsiveness. Tung sol have constructed The EL34B with the same commitment to quality and reliability that they have put into the bigger output valves such as the KT120 and KT150. So they offer excellent tone and reliabilityIn my own Marshall 50 watt head this valve does have some excellent characteristics.
In clean mode it is well balanced with a clear top end. The valve also has a cleaner treble response under saturation which is very open and smooth particularly on chords.
The valve is also very controlled in the bass end and does not bottom out even under heavy riffing. Under normal use the valve has a smooth early clipping which is nice and crunchy and does not sound hard. When driven into distortion the valve is full and fat sounding and has a non aggressive top end. This is ideal for rock blues players as it has a clean and detailed sound with a nice crunchy bite.
