Original Early Tungsram EL84 made in Hungary and supplied to the Hungarian Military. These rare early EL84 rank as one of the best NOS EL84 available.
These valves supplied to the Hungarian Government and date from 1970's.The items have the grey Tungsram rounded anode with the two rounded holes in the centre of anode plate and the slated hole at the top and bottom of the anode plate. These side holes are also covered by the silver flashing which was part of the Tungsram factory manufacturing process. They all have the Tungsram two digit code on a chrome plate located at the bottom of the halo getter support.
These items are very rare as they were factory selected for the Hungarian government with each valve individually numbered with a 4 digit serial number printed on the valve .
The number is also printed on the internal paper work which is in Hungarian with the date of 1970.
No other valve looks or sounds like the Tungsram and in the event of not finding Mullard or Telefunken valves the Tungsram valve I would take this valve every time.
The American Publication Vacuum Tube Valley reviewed a huge range of EL84 and said the following.
The Tungsram EL84 has lots of air and was 3 dimensional sounding with lots of punch and great tonal balance, growling and vicious sounding bottle, harmonically rich with a nice hard-rock sound.
In their opinion it beat the Mullard in guitar amp applications and finishing behind the Amperex Bugle boy and tied with Mullard in the Hi fi tests.
This is one of the best sounding EL84 money can buy and make no mistake this will upgrade you audio and guitar amplifier and bring a smile to your face.
