EarthQuaker pedals are made in Akron, Ohio built by hand built, hand tested and no compromise units using only the highest quality components.
I love Tubescreamers and I simply Love the Earthquaker Plumes Overdrive Pedal.

The Plumes works superbly when going into a valve amp as it supplies warm clear overdrive in abundance.

So why the plumes and not a tube screamer or screamer style pedal ?

Well the JRC4558 Opamp chip that we all know and love Earthquaker have discarded this In favour of low noise JFET Opamp for a more precise signal.

The 9v power input is internally converted to +/- 9v for more headroom and a clarity that is almost three-dimensional. Then Earthquaker has raised the input impedance to a whopping 10 mega ohms for a stronger signal with more clarity and chime.

They also have adjusted the cut off of the tone control to deliver a more useful range of travel with more deep bass on the low end without sacrificing the cutting midrange and bright top end.

So if that is not enough they then they decide to give you 3 clipping options

* Mode 1 is symmetrical clipping utilizing a pair of light emitting diodes. This is the crunchiest setting the Plumes has to offer. When played through a clean amp, it'll deliver a reasonable facsimile of that classic crunchy valve amp tone.

*Mode 2 is clean boost mode. This eliminates the soft clipping diodes altogether and leaves you with straight Opamp drive. This is perfect for pushing your clean tone out in front or driving the preamp of an already overdriven amp into tasteful breakup territory. This second point is great on a Master volume Marshall.

* Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement similar to a tube screamer but by
the changes made by Earthquaker it has more clean clarity and more output

I have no doubt that if this pedal had come out in 1979 it would be one of the most iconic guitar pedals today. This is definitely the best thing to come out Akron, Ohio since Chrissie Hynde and a must have on your pedal board.
