Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items. Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
Vintage Crunch Kit

This Harma Vintage Crunch Upgrade kit is in my option the best sounding combination for this amp.

It removes that sterile early fizzy break up and compressed sound and provides a clean and clear top end response and when overdriven gives that fat on the edge of break up sound . This is down to the combination of Harma Vintage late break and the Tungsram ECC82 superb overload characteristics.

The Harma 12AX7WA Vintage has been specially designed to break up later with a fatter midrange.

This allows your pre amp to be cleaner which in turn does not drive your output valves as hard allowing you to get that power amp distortion more naturally resulting in more of your amps tone.

The ECC82 Tungsram is one of the best sounding new old stock valves.

In guitar amp applications they simply sounds superb as they produce clean sound which is not equalled by any other ECC82. When pushed in overdrive it adds a fat warm midrange and breaks up with a crunchy edge with a really punchy sustain.

What I really like is that chords are fat and chunky with the sound really focused. The valves distorted tone is both warm and full and when overdriven has that lovey snarl that you get out of a large valve amp.

The common complaint is the HT1 is to bright and hard sounding and indeed the use of op amps In the gain stage does not help. We also changed from the Blackstar designed to a Celestion 8 15 which also help even out the sound

The kit consists of

1 Specially selected Harma 12AX7WA Vintage
1 Specially Selected Tungsram ECC82

Please note that the kit is for the valves only.
