The valves that we stock under the Svetlana winged C are the original items made by the JSC Svetlana Company that owns and operates the Svetlana factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. This factory has a long history of making valves and transmitting valves .In fact have been making vacuum tubes for over 100 years. These valves have constantly topped not only our own valve reviews but also in audio and guitar reviews the world over. They offer some of the best sounding types available today.

Watford valves has cryogenically treated some of the more popular and best sounding Original Svetlana / winged C valves. This process makes a permanent change to the valves performance and the benefits do not deteriorate over time or upon return to operating temperature, it changes the whole way the vacuum tube performs..

The biggest benefits I have found have been a huge improvement in audio performance. The soundstage is bigger with more detail with a big reduction in the noise floor. The most dramatic improvement has been how the valve operates under saturated and overdriven conditions in guitar amplifiers. The distortion is smoother with less hardness and is musically pleasing to the ear.

These are the ORIGINAL Svetlana KT88 as made by JSC Svetlana and are also known by the name of Winged C.

These are specially selected and CRYO treated original Svetlana KT88 as made by JSC Svetlana, these are not the reflector made KT88 but the original JSC Svetlana so are the real deal and they offer the last word in Sonics and performance.

The Original Svetlana KT88 Winged C has been designed to closely resemble the GEC KT88 in performance and appearance but has a number of excellent features which make this the best sounding KT88 since the famous GEC item.

The valve uses a tri laminated anode plate construction which gives greater stability at high voltages. This also helps the valve dissipate the heat more efficiently thus resulting in better performance. The KT88 also has a single piece beam forming electrode with precise screen/grid alignment.

The Cryo treatment is proven scientific process that permanently enhances the valves performance. This gives the valve more clarity and definition across the whole musical spectrum.

The bass response is fast and solid with enhanced musical detail. It picks out the clarity and depth of an acoustic bass with low frequency organ music clear with no muddiness

The Svetlana KT88 Cryo also handles complex musical passages with ease and has never sounding confused or harsh.
