The Cryo treatment gives a permanent change to the valves performance. The additional benefits such as better clarity, larger and improved sound stage with increased definition under distortion are what the treated valves provide and ensure a lasting improvement to you sound over the untreated items.
The Harma ECC83 Retro Cryo provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth. This valve has a traditional British voiced sound that has a huge singing sustaining tone when overdriven. The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.
The Svetlana 6L6GC winged C Cryo has consistently topped not only our test reports but many others across the world. In clean mode the valve is very well balanced with a big clean sound and a smooth top end response. It provide clear detail on chords and double stops which no other modern 6L6GC can match.In overdriven mode the valve provides great balance and control it does not sound fuzzy or hard. All the notes are clear and musical even with high levels of saturation. The Svetlana 6L6GC has a rich deep bass response which provides plenty of slam on chords. Guitar solo's and runs are clear and well defined and therefore this is the best valve for that modern high gain sound. The Svetlana 6L6GC is the closest modern day valve to the sound of the old Sylvania STR 387 6L6GC sound and therefore is an excellent upgrade.
