The Super 15 is a very versatile amplifier as it provides a tonal range from classic Vox AC 15 style to a huge open clean sound. The Super 15 clever circuit design incorporates a pitch shifting and conventional tremolo that makes the sound of this amplifier a joy to play.
This kit compliments the openness of the Super 15 as the Philips provides a large soundstageand a treble clarity with a distorted sound that is not matched by modern EL84.
In the Pre amp section we use the following,
The Harma ECC83 Retro is a true sounding recreation of the famous Mullard ECC83. This valve replicates the warm detail and harmonically rich midrange that made the Mullard sound so famous.
For the Modulator valve we use a gain selected ECC82/5814A Philips for its smooth evenness and clarity.
In the output stage
The Philips USA made EL84 has two very important sound features which excel in this circuit.
In clean mode they have the best treble clarity of any new old stock EL84; they provide the chiming top end ring to the sound that is wonderfully open especially when using the vibrato effect.
In overdriven mode, the EL84 Philips has a later break up and can produce a really punchy aggressive tone with plenty of sparkle giving you enough cut to be heard through the mix.
The Rectifier
The Harma GZ34 Retro is based on the Mullard GZ34 and is used as it provides the correct rectification with no reduction in B+ voltage unlike many of the modern GZ34 on the market today.

2 Specially Gain selected Harma ECC83 Retro in V1 & V3
1 Specially Gain selected Philips ECC82/5814A in V2
1 Specially Gain selected and balanced Harma ECC83 Retro in V4
2 Selected and matched Philips USA EL84 in a matched pair
1 Selected Harma GZ34 Retro rectifier.
