Black Star amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch. By upgrading the valves to selected cryogenically treated valve sets customers have noticed the additional benefits such as better clarity, larger and improved sound stage with increased definition under distortion. Here we have listed our most common upgrades to the Black Star range.
JJ valves a renowned around the world for their superb sound quality. By Cryo treating the JJ valves the cryo process transforms a good sounding valve in a great sounding item.

The cryogenic process gives the JJ valves a smoother richer tone resulting in the valves imaging having more focus and bite. The JJ Cryo has a warmer sound which is clearer and has better high end resolution than the untreated item. The Cryo valves have exceptional note clarity with improved definition in clean mode with greater transparency under distortion.

The Cryo treatment enhances the overall performance of the valve set. The bass response is deeper more controlled bass with added depth and weight. It provides extended clarity in the high end and upper midrange. The extended clarity in the high end and upper midrange is an excellent addition in clean playing situations giving the amplifier more sparkle.

In overdriven mode the JJ 12BH7A Cryo is very easy to overdrive providing a warm and natural distortion with a little compression.

The Cryo treatment enhances the valves overload characteristic which results in a harmonically rich lead guitar sound which is fatter and tighter with a great singing natural sustain when the valve is pushed into distortion.

These features are simply not available in the standard untreated version of the JJ valves
