The Keeley TR-2 solves many of the problems that are associated with the Boss TR-2 and turms a good pedal into a great one.
The Boss TR-2 has two major drawbacks
The main problem is the volume drop
So Keeley have upgraded the audio circuitry and improved the response curve of the pedal.
The second problem is the hard distortion and background noise of the Boss pedal that makes many of the effects unpleasant to listen too.
So to look at the Mods in detail and how they solve these two issues.
The Keeley Electronics TR-2 modification gives you a blend between the stock look and the boutique look. Keeley have redesigned the depth control area to have a volume control as well giving you control in the output level.
This means you can stomp on the pedal for a nice volume boost during solos and drive your amp into a really cool, retro sound, or set it for an even volume level. This is done by using a dual concentric potentiometer, the appearance is kept clean while making the pedal a useful tool for guitar players, keyboard players, bass players etc.
Keeley have improved the bass response of the pedal. This gives increase sound specturm so you can go from a big warm bass to smooth even sound. This eliminates the muddiness of the stock item.
Keeley have upgraded the entire audio path for higher fidelity, which leads to more of your natural guitar tone getting through. So you have more top end transparency and more highs.
They have removed all the distortion that detracts from the pedals sound give clean clear sound.
The final advantage is that the mods enable you to use the pedal as a CLEAN BOOST
CLEAN BOOST- simply set the depth for ZERO depth, the control all the way off, then set the level control up high to provide a great CLEAN BOOST so now the pedal is dual function now.
